(15) The reaction of aldehydes and ketones with ammonia forms imine derivatives, also known as Schiff bases (compounds having a C=N function). Imines can undergo nucleophilic addition reaction with KCN. Now, nitration takes place on benzene ring. Then amine group under acetylation reaction with acetic anhydride.

Now, the carboxylic acid group undergo esterification reaction with ethyl alcohol in acidic medium. Now, the nitro groups present on benzene undergo reduction to amines with H 2 / Pd. Now, the amino groups undergo diazotization with nitrous acid. Then substitution of iodine takes place at diazonium groups upon reaction with NaI.
