Both statement I and statement II are correct. Phylum-Chorodata is divided into three subphyla, i.e. Urochordata, Cephalochordata and Vertebrata. Notochord is present only in larval tail in Urochordata, whereas in Cephalochordata it extends from head to tail and is persistent throughout their life. The members of Vertebrata possess notochord during the embryonic period. It is replaced by a cartilaginous or bony vertebral column in the adult.
