If an external opposite potential is applied on the galvanic cell and increased reaction

continues to take place till the opposing voltage reaches the value 1.1 V . At this stage no current will flow through the cell because if external potential further increase then reaction will occur in opposite direction or reversible reaction. Hence, this works as an electrolytic cell.
