Benzene sulphonyl chloride 
(also known as Hinsberg's reagent) reacts with
primary amines to form sulphonamides. Due to presence of strong electron withdrawing sulphonyl group, the hydrogen attached to N is highly acidic. Hence, it is soluble in alkali.
