Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
B
Let nth term be the first negative term.
T n < 0
40 + (n – 1) – 2 < 0 or 42 – 2n < 0
2n > 42 or n > 21
Hence first 21 terms of A.P are non -negative
sum will be maximum if no negative terms is taken.
S max =
[2 × 40 + 20 (– 2)] = 420
