The correct answer is:

 L.H.S.= f(x)

& R.H.S. = f –1 (x)

∴ f(x) = f –1 (x) = x

⇒ = x

⇒ log 10 (x – 8) = log 10 x

⇒ log x (x – 8) = log 10 2

⇒ x – 8 = 2 & x = 10

x = 10 is the solution.
