Find the equation of a plane passing through the
intersection of two planes x + 2y + z = 1 and
2x – y + z = 2 and passing through the point (2, 1, – 2)

CHECK THE SOLUTION.
Sol. Let the equation of plane is
(x + 2y + z – 1) + λ (2x – y + z – 2) = 0
Since it passes through the point (2, 1, – 2), So
1 – λ = 0 ⇒ λ = 1
∴ equation of required plane is –
(x + 2y + z – 1) + (2x – y + z – 2) = 0
3x + y + 2z = 3
