Let (am 12 , – 2am 1 ) ≡ (4a, – 4a) ⇒ m 1 = 2
and (am 22 , – 2am 2 ) ≡ (9a, – 6a) ⇒ m 2 = 3
Let slope of the third normal be m 3
m 1 + m 2 + m 3 = 0
⇒ m 3 = – 5
∴ equation of third normal is y = m 3 x – 2am 3 – am 33
y = – 5x – 2a (– 5) – a (–125)
5x + y – 135a = 0
