(log 5 x) 2 + log 5x
= 1 ⇒ (log 5 x) 2 + log 5x 5 – log 5x x = 1
⇒ (log 5 x) 2 +

⇒ (log 5 x) 2 +

= 1
Let log 5 x = t
∴ t 2 +

= 1 ⇒
= 1 ⇒ t 3 + t 2 + 1 – t = 1 + t
t 3 + t 2 – 2t = 0 ; t(t 2 + t – 2) = 0 ; t(t – 1) (t + 2) = 0
t = 0, 1, – 2
∴ log 5 x = 0, 1, –2 ∴ x = 1, 5,
