Let A = Z, the set of integers. Let R 1 = {(m, n) ∈ Z × Z : (m + 4n) is divisible by 5 in Z}.
Let R 2 = {(m, n) ∈ Z × Z : (m + 9n) is divisible by 5 in Z}.

R 1 : m + 4n = 5n + (m – n)
R 2 : m + 9n =10n +(m – n)
If 5n + (m – n) is divisible by 5 then 10n + (m – n) is also divisible by 5 and vice versa.
hence R 1 = R 2
Also R 1 & R 2 is symmetric relation on Z.
