If the arithmetic mean of the roots of the equation 4cos 3 x – 4cos 2 x – cos( π + x) – 1 = 0 in the interval [0, 315] is equal to k π , then the value of k is
Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
C
4cos 3 x – 4cos 2 x + cos x – 1 = 0 ⇒ (4 cos 2 x + 1) (cos x – 1) = 0 ⇒ cos x = 1
x = 2n π
solutions in the interval [0, 315] are 0, 2 π , 4 π , ....., 100 π
∴ arithmatic mean ; =
= 50 π
