Let A ∪ B = A ∩ B
Now, x ∈ A ⇒ x ∈ A ∪ B ( A ⊂ A ∪ B)
⇒ x ∈ A ∩ B (A ∪ B = A ∩ B)
⇒ x ∈ B
Similarly, x ∈ B implies x ∈ A ∴ A = B
Conversly, let A = B
∴ A ∪ B = A ∪ A = A = A ∩ A = A ∩ B
∴ A ∪ B = A ∩ B
