The correct answer is:

3 or 9, both 3 and 9 (The common difference of the arithmatic progression can be either 0 or 6, and accordingly the second term can be either 3, or 9 ; thus the answers 3, or 9, or both 3 and 9 are acceptable.)

Sol. = = = ; d = 6 or d = 0

Now if d = 0 then a 2 = 3 else a 2 = 9 for single choice more appropriate choice is 9, but in principal, question seems to have an error.

∴ a 2 = 3 + 6 = 9
