Animals store their excess energy in two primary forms to be used when needed:

Glycogen: This is a complex carbohydrate (polysaccharide) stored mainly in the liver and skeletal muscles. It serves as a short-term energy reserve that can be quickly broken down into glucose.

Animal Fat (Lipids): Stored in adipose tissue, fat serves as a high-energy, long-term storage material. It is used when the body's glycogen stores are depleted or during periods of prolonged activity.
