1.Hepatic portal vein carries the blood from the intestine which contains the nutrients absorbed from the digestive tract and it is transferred to the liver.

2. In the liver the substances are checked, the harmful ones are filtered out and the extra things are stored.

3. The hepatic portal vein carries blood from the intestine to the liver before it is delivered to the systemic circulation.

4. It carries the nutrient-rich blood to the liver which is further processed there and returned back to the heart via inferior vena cava.
