An autoimmune disorder occurs when the body's immune system attacks and destroys healthy body tissue by mistake, Sometimes, due to genetic and other unknown reasons, the body attacks self- cells. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder and is the result of the body's immune system attacking healthy body tissues, usually the joints (synovial membrane). So, Statement 1 is correct but Statement II is incorrect.
