Carl Linnaeus wrote Species Plantarum in 1753. This work is considered the starting point of modern botanical nomenclature and describes all known plant species of that time using binomial names (genus + species).

Mayr – known for the biological species concept.

Bentham – worked on plant taxonomy later, especially Genera Plantarum.

Aristotle – ancient Greek philosopher; did not write formal botanical works like this.
