Grranulocytes include neutrophils, basophils, eosinophils, and mast cells.
Their granules contain enzymes that damage or digest pathogens and release inflammatory mediators into the bloodstream. Mononuclear leukocytes include lymphocytes,monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Agranulocytes, also known as mononuclear leukocytes, are white blood cells with a one-lobed nucleus. They are characterized by the absence of granules in their cytoplasm, which distinguishes them from granulocytes. Monocytes are the largest in the class of leukocytes, and make up 2-8% of total leukocytes in the blood.
