Haemopoesis is the process of formation of cellular components of the blood. It takes place in the bone marrow after birth and occurs throughout the life. In the early embryonic stage, blood cells mainly erythrocytes arise from the yolk sac before more varied cells like lymphoid and myeloid stem cells and precursors are derived. In foetus, haemopoesis take place in the liver but erythrocytes formed in the early embryonic stage are formed from the yolk sac.
