The Equalization Point: At approximately 40° latitude in both hemispheres, the incoming solar radiation and outgoing terrestrial radiation reach an equilibrium.

Energy Deficit: Beyond 40° towards the poles, the earth loses more heat than it receives, resulting in a net energy deficit.
