Archaebacteria live in harsh habitats such as extreme salty areas, hot springs & marshy areas. Archaean cell wall may have pseudopeptidoglycan, polysaccharides, glycoproteins or true proteins. The cell membrane contains branched chain lipids. Some of them are capable of producing biogas (methanogens).
