Choose the correct option for the total pressure (in atm) in a mixture of 4g O 2 and 2g H 2 confined in a total volume of one litre at 0°C is: [ Given R = 0.082 L atm mol -1 K -1 , T = 273K]
Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
Given:
V = 1L
T = 273K
Let us find the Partial pressure of O 2 .
No. of moles = 4/32 =0.125 moles
P 1 = nRT/v =0.125x0.082 x 273/1 =2.80 atm
Now let us find the partial pressure of H 2 .
P 2 = nRT/v =1 x 0.082 x 273/1 =22.386 atm
Total pressure of the mixture =2.30 + 22.38=25.13 atm
