A compound (lattice I) containing Cd, Sn and P used in the fabrication of some
semiconductors, in which Cd occupying one quarter of the tetrahedral holes and
Sn occupying one half of octahedral holes in the closed packed array of P 3– ions.
The magnetic oxide of cobalt (lattice II) is used in recovering takes in which cobalt ions
at different oxidation states occupying one eighth of the tetrahedral holes and one half of
the octahedral holes in the closed packed array of oxide ions.
In lattice III. A and B atoms are present. A atoms are occupying the corners whereas B
atoms are occupying all the edge centre positions.
