Determine the net decrease in free energy in kJ/mol when 1 mole of NaCl (s) is dissolved in water at 300 K.
Given : lattice energy of NaCl (s) = – 780 kJ/mol.
For dissolution of NaCl (s) at 300 K = 0.05 kJ/mol
Hydration energy of NaCl = – 775 kJ/mol.
