Which is the correct arrangement of the compounds based on their bond strength?
Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
A
Bond strength
Bond length : HI > HBr > HCl > HF
Hence, bond strength : HF > HCl > HBr > HI
As we move down the group from F to I, the atomic size increase thus, the bond length (H-X) increases hence, the bond strength decreases from HF to HI.
