Zn 4s 2 3d 10
Cu + ≡ 4sº 3d 10 & Zn + = 4s 1 3d 10
Because Cu + has fully filled orbital which is stable configuration so the first I.E. of Cu in less. For removing one electron from Cu + fully filled orbital more energy has to be supplied that why second I.E. is high.
