Which of the following are not more basic than A1(OH) 3 ?
Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
C
B(OH) 3 , Be(OH) 2
The basic strength of the hydroxides decreases as we move from cerium to lutetium Also the lanthanoid hydroxides are more basic than A1(OH) 3 but less basic than Ca(OH) 2 .
B(OH) 3 is more covalent than Al(OH) 3 .Be(OH) 2 is as covalent as A1(OH) 3 .
B(OH) 3 is acidic while Be(OH) 2 and AI(OH) 3 are amphoteric while all others are more basic than AI( OH) 3 .
Hence choice is correct while , and are incorrect.
