Chemistry Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry The Mole Concept Subjective Type
Published on: August 14, 2026

When 1 mole of A reacts with mole of B 2 (A + B 2 → AB), 100 Kcal heat is liberated and when 1 mole of A reacted with 2 mole of B 2 (A + 2B 2 → AB 4 ), 200 Kcal heat is liberated. When 1 mole of A is completely reacted with excess, of B 2 to form AB as well as AB 4 , 140 Kcal heat is liberated calculate the mole of B 2 used. [Write your answer as number of mole of B 2 used × 10]

The correct answer is:
GO FOR SOLUTION

(11)

A + B 2 AB, 100 Kcal

x x/2 x

A + 2B 2 AB 4 , 200 Kcal

(1–x) 2(1–x) (1–x)

100 x + 200 (1–x) = 140

200 – 100 x = 140

x = = 0.6

used = + 2(1–x) = x 0.6 + 2 (1– 0.6) = 0.3 + 2 x 0.4 = 1.1 mol

1.1 × 10 = 11
