Let mass of product is 100 g
∴ Mass of CaC 2 = 85 g
Mass of CaO = 15 g
Used mole of CaO = mole of CaC 2 produced = 
∴ mass of CaO for producing 85 g CaC 2 =
× 56 = 74.375 g.
∴ Initial total mass of CaO = 74.375 + 15 = 89.375.
85 g CaC 2 obtained from = 89.38 g CaO
∴ 1 g CaC 2 obtained from =
g CaO
10 6 g CaC 2 obtained from =
× 10 6 = 1051470 g
For 1000 kg CaC 2 requires = 1051.47 kg CaO.
100 g product requires CaO = 89.38 g
