Given the molar conductance of sodium butyrate, sodium chloride and hydrogen chloride as 83, 127 and 426 mho cm 2 mol –1 at 25°C respectively. Calculate the molar conductance of butyric acid at infinite dilution.

Sol. Λ m (NaA) = 83 S cm 2 mol –1 Λ m (NaCI) = 127 S cm 2 mol –1 Λ m (HCI) = 426S cm 2 mol –1
Λ m (HA) = 83 + 426 – 127 = 382 S cm 2 mol –1 .
