NaCl + AgNO 3
AgCl ↓ (white) + NaNO 3 ; Ag 2 S ↓ (black).
Ag 2 CO 3 and Ag 2 SO 3 dissolves in dilute HNO 3 liberating CO 2 and SO 2 respectively.
Both Ag 2 CO 3 and Ag 2 SO 3 are white. AgCl is white but insoluble in dilute HNO 3 . NaCl solution is neutral to litmus as it is a salt of strong acid and strong base.
