Let A 1 , A 2 , A 3 ,……., A m be arithmetic means between –2 and 1027 and G 1 , G 2 , G 3 ,……, G n be geometric means between 1 and 1024. Product of geometric means is 2 45 and sum of arithmetic means is 1025 × 171.
(i) The value of n is
Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
A
Ans.
(i)
Sol. G 1 G 2 ……..G n =
= 2 5n ∴ 2
5n = 2 45 ∴ n = 9
(ii)
Sol. A 1 + A 2 + A 3 +……..+ A m–1 + A m = 1025 × 171
∴ m
= 1025 × 171
∴ m = 342
(iii)
Sol. Since n = 9,
∴ r =
= 2
∴ G 1 = 2, r = 2
G 1 + G 2 +……+ G n =
= 1024 – 2 = 1022
