Find the natural number, x, which satisfies the equation log 10 (x² − 12 x + 36) = 2
Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
16
(16)
Sol. log 10 (x 2 – 12x + 36) = 2
(i) x 2 – 12x + 36 > 0 ⇒ (x – 6) 2 > 0 ⇒ x ∈ R – {6}
(ii) x 2 – 12x + 36 = 100 ⇒ x 2 – 12x – 64 = 0 ⇒ (x – 16) (x + 4) = 0
⇒ x = 16, –4.
