Sol. Clearly 3 rd bright fringe will be at y = 3 β .

= = = 0.117 cm. = 1.17 mm.

Say m th bright fringe of 6500 Å coincides with n th bright fringe of 5200 Å .

⇒ n β 1 = m β 2

Hence, for least distance, 5 th bright fringe of 5200 Å coincides with 4 th bright fringe of 6500 Å.

⇒ y’ = 4 β 1 = = 0.156 cm = 1.56 mm
