The correct answer is:
CHECK THE SOLUTION.

(i)

Sol. For the 50% ionic character , Δ X = 2.1

∴ X H = 2.1 ; X F = 4 , Δ X = 1.9 < 2.1

X Li = 1 ; X F = 4 , Δ X = 3 > 2.1

X Na = 0.9 ; X Cl = 3 , Δ X = 2.1

(ii)

Sol. All of the above are correct

(iii)

Sol. X – O – H

= 2.5

= 1.4

There fore in the aqueous solution X – O bond is more polar than O – H bond.

∴ X O – H → X + + OH – ; hence X – OH is alkaline.
