Initially pH will decrease fast, then slowly due to buffer formation and then will decrease fast as buffer action diminishes.

For a weak electrolyte

Ka =

when α << 1 then α = as C increases

α decreases

as C is tending to zero α will be unity

At 1/4th neutralization

CH3COOH + NaOH CH3COONa + H2O

pH = pKa + log = pKa + log

At 3/4th neutralization

pH = pKa + log 3

so difference in pH = Δ (pH) = log 3 – log = 2 log 3
