CHECK THE SOLUTION.
NaOH is commercialy prepared by electrolysis of brine solution in diaphragm cell.

Anode reaction: 2Cl – ⎯→ Cl 2 + 2e –
Cathode reactions : 2H 2 O + 2e – ⎯→ H 2 + 2OH –
Na + + OH – ⎯→ NaOH
Over all reaction: 2Na + + 2Cl – + 2H 2 O ⎯→ 2NaOH + H 2 + Cl 2
