“NEET”, also known as the “National Eligibility cum Entrance Test”, is a big exam taken by students in India who wish to become “doctors” or be employed in the “healthcare sector”. It is an exam that covers medical courses such as MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BSMS and Veterinary (B.V.Sc. & AH). This is an exam conducted by an organisation known as the National Testing Agency (NTA). In case you wish to pursue a course in the well—known medical colleges, such as AIIMS, JIPMER, or even in a private or government medical college, you have to take NEET. It is a “paper—and—pencil test”, and it is the first step towards a student who dreams of assisting people as a doctor, dentist or other medical practitioners.
The question paper NEET 2026 will be presented in 13 languages:- (English–Hindi–Assamese–Bengali–Gujarati–Kannada–Malayalam–Marathi–Odia–Punjabi–Tamil–Telugu–Urdu).
Applicants who choose English will only get the test booklet written in English. Those candidates who choose Hindi will be given an English and Hindi bilingual booklet. At the regional level, there is a choice of bilingual booklets: selected language and English. In case of a situation of ambiguity in translation, the English version would be considered final.

The National Medical Commission conducts counselling (allotment of seats according to merit and candidate choice) for 15% state seats, central institutes, and deemed universities. The counselling for the remaining 85% state quota seats and private colleges is done by the medical boards of respective states. States prepare their separate merit list on the basis of NEET-UG results. The total number of seats offered combining Government and Private colleges under NEET are 205,023 (1,18,148 for MBBS, 27,618 for BDS, 52,720 for AYUSH, and 6,537 for BVSc).
