Using conservation of momentum

0.02 u = 0.02 v +1V 1 …….. (i)

(where V 1 be the velocity of plate of 1 kg)

and 0.02 v = (2.98 + 0.02) V 1 ………. (ii)

( Q  plate of 3 kg has also same velocity i.e., V 1 )

or V 1 = 0.02

Substituting

∴ ∴ 0.02 v = 0.02 + 0.02
