Physics Thermodynamics Mix MCQ (Single Correct)

The state of a thermodynamic system change from A to B adiabatically and in this process 500 J of work is done on the system. Now the state of same system is changed from A to B by means of another process and in this process 120 J of heat is supplied to system, then -

A
Temperature of system in state B is equal to that in state A.
B
In new process the work done by the system against the surrounding is +380 joule
C
The new process is same polytrophic process.
D
Temperature of system in state B is lesser than that in state A.

The correct answer is:
C

Q = 0, W = – 500

Q = Δ U + Δ W

0 = Δ U – 500

Δ U = 500 joule

system is taken from A to B and T B > T A as Δ V is positive

for new processes

Q 1 = Δ U + W 1

120 = 500 + W 1

W 1 = – 380 new process is not isobaric, isochoric and not isothermal. It would be polytrophic process.
