Sol. Using Kirchhoff ’ s first law at junctions a and b, we have found the current in other wires of the circuit on which currents were not shown.

Now, to calculate the energy stored in the capacitor we will have to first find the potential difference V ab across it.

V a – 3 × 5 – 3 × 2 + 3 × 2 = V b

V a – V b = V ab = 15 volt

U = CV 2 ab

= (0.4 × 10 – 6 ) (15) 2 J = 45 µJ
