Physics Current Electricity Instrument MCQ (Single Correct)

Two resistors, 400 Ω Ω , and 800 Ω Ω are connected in series with a 6 V battery. It is desired to measure the current in the circuit. An ammeter of 10 Ω Ω resistance is used for this purpose. The reading of ammeter will be A. Similarly, if a voltmeter of 1000 Ω Ω resistance is used to measure the potential difference across the 400 Ω Ω resistor, the reading of voltmeter is V. Then the value of N and P are:

The correct answer is:
CHECK THE SOLUTION.

(N = 6 and P = 30)

Sol.

Refer figure : Current through ammeter,

i = =

= 4.96 × 10 –3 A

= 4.96 mA

Refer figure : Combined resistance of 1000 Ω Ω voltmeter and 400 Ω Ω resistance is,

R = = 285.71 Ω Ω

i =

= 5.53 × 10 –3 A

Reading of voltmeter

= V ab = iR = (5.53 × 10 –3 ) (285.71)

= 1.58 volt
