Conservation of momentum yields.

or 4v 1 + 0.2 v 2 = 0 ............(i)

Conservation of energy yields

or × 4v 12 + × 0.2 × v 22 = 1050

or 2 v 12 + 0.1 v 22 = 1050 ..........(ii)

Solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we have
