Ans.

(i)

Sol . Distance between central maxima and 10 th maxima = 5 cm – 2 cm = 3 cm

Width of fringe is β in air

10 β = 3 cm

β = 0.3 cm = 3 mm

Width of fringe in liquid

β′ = = = 2 mm

(ii)

Sol. No change the location of central maxima in side liquid due to this, y-co-ordinate of central maxima remain same = 2 cm

Location of 10 th maxima = 10 β ′ = 10 × 2 mm

= 20 mm = 2 cm

So y-co-ordinate of 10 th maxima in liquid

= 2 cm + 2 cm = 4 cm
