Given below are two statements.
Statement I 2-methyl-1, 3-cyclohexanedione is more acidic than cyclohexanone.
Statement II Aldehyde and ketone undergoes nucleophilic addition reaction but acyl group undergoes nucleophilic substitution reaction. In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below.

Statement
is true as more number of carbonyl group, more will be the acidic strength. This is because the carbonyl carbon is electron withdrawing group. In both aldehydes and ketones,
-atom is double bonded with oxygen atom.
Since, electronegativity of
-atom is more than that of the
-atom, it pulls the shared pair of electron towards itself. Due to which
-atom acquires partial positive charge and
-atom acquires partial negative charge. Hence, nucleophile can easily attack on the
-atom to neutralize the positive charge and makes it stable. In case of acyl group, nucleophilic addition does not occur as it occur in electron deficient, double or triple bond but acyl group is electron rich in nature. So, statement II is true.
