Sol. The image will appear to be at rest w.r.t. the particle, at the instant the velocity of the particle is parallel to the mirror,
i.e.,

Path will be a straight line. Because at any instant velocity of the particle can be resolved into two components, one parallel to the mirror and the other perpendicular to it, parallel components of the particle and its image are identical.
