The new tension F'. in the wire is

F' = F – B = w – = w

= w = (0.8765) w = (0.87645) F.

The frequency will be proportional to the square root of the tension, and so

f' = (200 Hz) = 187 Hz.

The water does not offer much resistance to the transverse waves in the wire, and hence the node will be located at the point where the wire attaches to the sculpture and not at the surface of the water.
