Which of the following graphs shows the variation of electric field E due to a hollow spherical conductor of radius R as a function of distance from the center of the sphere
Text Solution
Verified by ExpertsThe correct answer is:
A
Electric field due to a hollow spherical conductor is governed by following equation $E = 0,$ for r < R ...(i)
and $E = \frac{Q}{4 \pi \varepsilon_0 r^2}$ for $r \geq R$ ....(ii)
i.e. inside the conductor field will be zero and outside the conductor will vary according to $E \propto \frac{1}{r^2}$
