A

Assume M cells are connected correct and N cells connected wrong.

M + N = 12 ......(i)

(M + 2) E – NE = 3R

M – N + 2 = .....(ii)

ME – (N + 2)E = 2R

M – N – 2 = .....(iii)

from eq (i) and (ii)

– M + N + 10 = 0

M – N = 10 ......(iv)

from eq (iii) and (iv)

M = 11, N = 1
