(Upper block 4 m/s 2 , lower block 1 m/s 2 ; Both blocks 2 m/s 2 )
Sol. Case -I: For the lower block

a max =
= 1m/s 2
and common possible acceleration =
= 2 m/s 2
Hence, blocks move with different accelerations.
a A =
= 4 m/s
2
a B =
= 1 m/s 2
Case-II: When the force is acting on the lower block maximum possible acceleration of A

=
= 2 m/s 2
and common acceleration of the two blocks =
= 2 m/s 2
Hence, both blocks move with common acceleration of a A = a B = 2 m/s 2
